“The first thing I think of when I hear someone mention Outkast is nothing – they’re not hip-hop or soul, or anything. They started off as an average hip-hop group, and found real success from making music that is almost impossible to categorize. We don’t know what genre it is, but everyone went crazy the first time they heard “B.O.B.” or “Hey Ya”. Their production is top notch, they put the South on the map and their non-rap song “SpottieOttieDopaliscious” is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard in my life. Play it for anybody, and they start vibing to it instantly. A lot of people don’t know that Andre 3000 is actually an amazing producer (listen to ‘Millionaire’). Their production team, The Dungeon family, is top notch also – crispy drums, psychadelic loops, and all the skills you need to make music from scratch.
