C&K Street Series #38 (Spoken WORD)

The C&K Street Series features Commoners and Kings performing impromptu spoken word poems on the streets of Southern California. L.A. is known for having the worst traffic in America with probably thousands of miles of freeways stretched across its metropolitan area. My intention was to capture a bit of this as I met BESSKEPP, A veteran who describes himself as a poet with a hip hop mentality who grew up on Langston Hughes and Public Enemy. He quotes his brother, who he credits as one of the people who influenced him to emcee.

Besskepp, a HBO Def Poet, is also host and Co-founder of A Mic & Dim Lights Open Mic in Pomona, Ca. He is Nogales High Poetry Club Advisor where students write, perform, teach workshops, and publish poetry. I listen to him and think of my older brothers listening to Big Daddy Kane, KRS-One, Rakim and all the other founders of the movement.

He has an album available called THE HEY MOMENT available on CDbaby and Itunes (check link below)
