Jeff Chery ~ The People Feat Huey P. Newton prod. by Jae Monee

While in recent years money, fast cars and women have ruled the hip-hop game, Jeff Chery takes the genre back to its essence of social consciousness and commentary with his latest single, The People.

Produced by Jae Monee, the soulful, emotion-filled and introspective song was inspired by the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, which left 20 children and six adult staff members dead. Opting for a no-hook format, Jeff’s verses are instead interspersed with clips of speeches by Huey P. Newton, co-founder of the Black Panthers and one of the most powerful voices of the not only the civil rights movement but of the last generation.
The People appears on Jeff’s upcoming mixtape, Jetset Vagabond, which is due for release on February 19. A video for the single will drop the same day.
